Easy Dirt Pudding Recipe

You'll find dirt pudding bowls are easy to make, although making the candy bowls does take a bit of time.

The candy bowls are edible and made with white candy melts and the dirt pudding is made with chocolate pudding mix and topped with Oreo cookies as the "dirt". The RIP tombstones are made with Milano cookies.

Kids LOVE how fun these are. They're kinda creepy, but not terribly so.

Customizations

Here are some fun ways to customize these Halloween pudding bowls.

  • Change out the chocolate pudding for white chocolate instant pudding or a French vanilla pudding
  • Make them green pudding filled cups by using white chocolate pudding and using green food coloring to make it green
  • Make orange pudding by using the white chocolate pudding with orange food coloring
  • Add some gummy worms on top for an extra gross dessert
  • If you don't want to take the time to make the candy bowls, you can also use clear plastic cups and make Halloween pudding cups. Just follow the directions using the cups instead of making the bowls.

Tips for Making The Best Oreo Dirt Dessert

  • Make sure to add layers of the white candy melts to make the candy bowl. If you don't use enough layers, the bowl won't be very sturdy.
  • Use a food processor to crush up the Oreo cookies for a fine crumb. It will make the dirt seem more real with the cookie crumbs being so small and uniform
  • Get your kids involved with helping to make this. They will love it and they will think it tastes better

Step 4: Dip the balloons into the candy melts so the bottom â…“-1/2 of the balloon is coated in the melted candy.

Step 6: Continue to dip the balloons back into the candy a total of 4-5 times to form a thicker coating. You may need to put the candy melts back into the microwave to remelt during this.

Step 7: Place the coated balloons into the fridge to set for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Step 8: Use a pin to deflate the balloons and remove the candy bowls that are left behind.

Step 9: Place the instant pudding mix into a bowl and whisk in the milk until thoroughly combined. Let the pudding mixture set until it has thickened.

Step 10: Fill the candy bowls with the pudding. Make sure there is a little empty space at the top of the bowls.

Step 12: Sprinkle the crushed Oreo cookies onto the top of the filled pudding bowl.

Step 13: Using an edible food marker, write "RIP" on the front of each Milano cookie.
