Breakfast Sandwich
These breakfast sandwiches are so simple and easy to make.
They have been a favorite to make in our house for years!
We make them for breakfast on weekends, busy days where we need something to eat in the car, as well as when we're camping. Plus, anytime we just feel like eating them.
Not only are they easy to make, but it is so easy to change them up to make it a little different from the previous time we made them, we also make them if we need to use up certain ingredients (leftover ham in particular) and we love being able to customize them for each kid if needed.
Ingredients for Breakfast Sandwich
Eggs: Preferably fresh, large eggs.
Butter: Used for frying the eggs. Can also use some for toasting the bread in the pan if you prefer.
Salt and pepper: Add the amount you like for the eggs. You can also add in a pinch of paprika or other herbs if you like.
Bacon: Make sure it's cooked but still slightly chewy to avoid it becoming too brittle.
Cheese: American, cheddar, or your choice.
Bread: We used English muffins, but you can choose whatever type of bread you like for these.
How to Make Breakfast Sandwich
Fry the Eggs: Heat a small amount of butter or oil over medium heat.
Once the pan is hot, crack the eggs into the pan. Be careful not to break the yolks.
Let the eggs cook until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny. This will take about 2 to 3 minutes. Then, carefully flip each egg using a spatula and cook for an additional 20 to 30 seconds. Season with salt and pepper if desired.
Toast the Muffins: While the eggs are cooking, slice the English muffins in half.
Toast the English muffin halves until they are golden brown. You can use a toaster or place them face down in a separate hot skillet until lightly toasted.
Assemble the Sandwich: Start with the bottom half of the toasted English muffin. Place a slice of cheese on the muffin so it begins to melt. If you have a toaster oven or air fryer, you can stick this in for about a minute to make sure the cheese is nice and melted.
Carefully place the fried egg over the cheese.
Place two strips of bacon over the egg.
Place the other half of the English muffin on top.
Serve Warm: Your breakfast sandwich is best served immediately while everything is still warm and the cheese is melted. My husband and kids all like to add a bit of hot sauce to their breakfast sandwiches for some heat.
