How to Make Taco Lasagna

To prepare the taco lasagna, start by preheating the oven and preparing a casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, bell pepper, and onion until the beef is no longer pink. Drain the mixture well before returning it to the skillet.

Leftover Taco Lasagna can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days.

Make sure to cover the lasagna well to prevent it from drying out. You can use plastic wrap or transfer the leftovers to an airtight container.

When you're ready to eat the leftovers, you can reheat them in the oven or microwave until heated through.

Remember, always check the leftovers before eating to make sure they are still good. If you see any signs of spoilage such as mold, an off smell, or if the lasagna is past the storage time, it's best to discard it.

Tips

Here are some tips for making the best Taco Lasagna:

  • Use Fresh Ingredients: The quality of your ingredients can significantly impact the taste of your dish. Use fresh bell peppers and onions for the best flavor.
  • Drain the Beef Well: After browning the beef, make sure to drain it well. This will prevent your lasagna from becoming too greasy.
  • Season to Taste: Don't be afraid to adjust the seasonings to your liking. If you prefer a spicier dish, add more taco seasoning or even some cayenne pepper.
  • Layer Evenly: When assembling your lasagna, make sure to spread each layer evenly.
  • Don't Rush the Baking: Let the lasagna bake fully so that the flavors can meld together and the cheese can become perfectly melted and slightly browned.
  • Let it Rest: After removing the lasagna from the oven, let it rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the layers to set and makes it easier to cut into servings.
  • Use a Preheated Oven: Always preheat your oven before baking the lasagna.
  • Use a Large Skillet: When cooking the beef and vegetables, use a large skillet.
  • Customize Your Toppings: Feel free to customize your toppings. You can add shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced jalapenos, sour cream, or anything else you like on your tacos.

What to Serve With It

Taco lasagna is a hearty dish that can be served as a standalone meal, but it also pairs well with various side dishes to create a more balanced and satisfying meal.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Salad: You can opt for a simple green salad or a more complex salad with ingredients like corn, black beans, and avocado to complement the flavors in the lasagna.
  • Garlic Bread: Garlic bread is a classic side dish for any lasagna, including taco lasagna. The buttery, garlicky flavors of the bread pair well with the spicy and savory flavors in the lasagna.
  • Taco Slaw: This is a fun twist on traditional coleslaw that includes ingredients like cabbage, carrots, and a tangy vinaigrette.
  • Hot Corn Casserole: This cheesy casserole can serve as a side dish or a dip. It's made with corn, cheese, and other ingredients that complement the flavors in taco lasagna.
  • Roasted Vegetables: Roasted vegetables like bell peppers, zucchini, or sweet potatoes can be a healthy and flavorful side dish for taco lasagna.
