Santa Pancakes
Santa Pancakes are a fun and easy way to make breakfast special during the holidays.
These pancakes are decorated to look like Santa’s face using simple ingredients like whipped cream, fruit, and marshmallows.
They’re a great way to get everyone in the holiday spirit while enjoying a tasty treat.
Ingredients
All-purpose flour: Using all-purpose flour makes the pancakes light and fluffy.
Sugar: A little sugar helps to sweeten the pancakes without making them too sweet.
Baking powder: Make sure your baking powder is fresh, as it can lose its power over time.
Baking soda
Salt
Milk: We use whole milk.
Egg: Eggs help bind the pancake batter together.
Melted butter: Butter adds flavor to the pancakes.
Cooking spray or butter: I prefer using butter as it adds a bit of extra flavor, but cooking spray works as well.
Whipped cream: This is what makes the pancakes look like Santa’s fluffy beard.
Fresh strawberries: Sliced strawberries are used to create Santa’s hat.
Blueberries or chocolate chips: These are perfect for making Santa’s eyes.
Small banana slice: A banana slice makes a great nose for Santa.
Large marshmallows: These are used for the pom-pom on Santa's hat.
Miniature marshmallows: These little marshmallows work great as the trim for Santa’s hat. They’re easy to arrange.
How to Make
Preheat a large skillet over medium heat and lightly coat it with cooking spray or a small amount of butter.
In one bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk the wet ingredients: milk, egg, and melted butter.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until the batter is smooth, with a few lump.
Once the skillet is hot, pour ¼ cup of the batter onto the pan for each pancake.
Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until bubbles start to form on the surface.
Flip the pancakes and cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until both sides are golden brown.
Continue with the rest of the batter.
To assemble the Santa pancakes, place one pancake on a plate.
Arrange strawberry slices along the top edge to form Santa’s hat, then add a large marshmallow to the side of the strawberries as the pom-pom.
Swirl whipped cream around the pancake for Santa's beard and fluffy hat trim, adding miniature marshmallows around the edge of the hat.
For the face, place blueberries or chocolate chips for the eyes, a banana slice for the nose, and a small piece of strawberry for the mouth.
Enjoy your festive breakfast!
Tips & Tricks
Here are a few tips for making the best Santa Pancakes:
Use fresh fruit for the best flavor and appearance, especially for the strawberries and bananas.
Create different Santa faces: Get creative with the decorations—swap out strawberries for raspberries or use dark chocolate chips for the eyes.
Leftovers/Storage
Store any leftover pancakes in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4-5 days.
To reheat, simply warm them in the microwave for 20-30 seconds or heat in a skillet over low heat.
You can freeze pancakes by stacking them with parchment paper in between and placing them in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months; reheat in the microwave or toaster.
