Patriotic brownie pizza is a perfect 4th of July dessert.
We love our 4th of July desserts in my house.
4th of July has been a fun day ever since I can remember. The local parade in the morning, then an afternoon of relaxing in order to celebrate at a potluck in the evening and watch the fireworks.
Sometimes it's a BYOM potluck, with everyone also bringing a side or dessert and other times it's a BBQ we are invited to and asked to bring something as well.
With just a little more effort compared to our 4th of July Rice Krispy treats, this brownie pizza is a crowd pleaser.
Wondering what to do with leftovers? You can use saran wrap or foil over the top and store in a cool place.
- butter, softened
- unsweetened baking chocolate
- vanilla extract
- cream cheese
- powdered sugar
- vanilla extract
- red, white & blue M&M's
- red, white & blue sprinkles
- gold star sprinkles
- 12" pizza pan with raised sides - a pizza stone will not work
- medium saucepan
How to Make the Brownie
Step 1: If you are using a non-stick pan preheat the oven to 325°F, otherwise preheat your oven to 350°F.
Step 2: Spray your pizza pan with non-stick spray or grease with butter.
Step 3: Using a medium saucepan, melt the butter, sugar and unsweetened chocolate over low heat. Make sure to stir frequently to prevent scorching. Once everything is melted and smooth add in the vanilla and stir to mix.
Step 4: Combine flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Then, pour in the melted chocolate mixture and mix until well combined.
Step 5: Add in eggs and mix until incorporated.
Step 6: Pour into the greased pizza pan and spread it evenly.
Step 7: Bake for 15 minutes or until inserting a toothpick in the middle comes out clean. Make sure not to overbake as this is a very thin brownie.
Step 8: Cool completely on a wire rack.
Step 1: Cream together the butter and cream cheese with an electric mixer.
Step 2: Add in the vanilla extract and stir to combine.
Step 3: Add in the powdered sugar gradually, making sure to beat well after each addition. Beat until all the sugar is mixed in and the icing is light and fluffy.
Step 4: Once the brownie has totally cooled, spread the icing evenly over it.
Step 5: Now it's time to decorate! Use the M&M's and sprinkles to decorate on top of the icing. If you're thinking of making design or a pattern, use your counter and lay the M&M's out on there first. Otherwise, you may find your pattern isn't quite right and the M&M's are covered in icing.
Step 6: Slice into pieces (8 or 16 work great) and enjoy!

Preheat oven to 350°F, or 325°F for a non-stick pan
Spray a 12 inch pizza pan with non-stick spray.
In a medium size sauce pan melt butter, sugar and unsweetened chocolate over low heat, stirring frequently, until all melted and smooth.
Add in vanilla and stir to mix.
In a large mixing bowl combine flour and salt.
Pour chocolate mixture in with the flour and thoroughly mix.
Add in eggs and mix until well incorporated.
Pour mixture in prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the
middle comes out clean. This is a very thin brownie so don’t overbake!
Remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool completely.
To make the icing
With an electric mixer cream together butter and cream cheese.
Add in vanilla and mix thoroughly.
Gradually add in powdered sugar beating well after each addition, until all the sugar is mixed in and the icing is light and fluffy.
Spread the icing evenly across the cooled brownie.
Decorate with M&M’s and sprinkles. If you want to make a pattern or design with the M&M’s lay it out on the counter to get an idea for spacing so that you don’t have to rearrange icing covered M&M’s!
To serve- slice into 8 or 16 equal pieces and enjoy!
Cover with foil or plastic wrap to store.
*note- the pizza pan must have raised sides, a pizza stone will NOT work for this recipe.
* If you want this to serve more people, make the slices smaller. This can also serve 16 people if you make the slices half the size.
