Muddy buddies, also known as puppy chow and can also be used as a Halloween boo mix is such an easy recipe that you can make in a half an hour.

Kids and adults will love this Halloween puppy chow. It's the perfect sweet and salty treat.

If you love peanut butter and chocolate, you'll love these treats. It has chex cereal, peanut butter, chocolate and a mix of Halloween candy in it.

If you are serving this at a Halloween party, make sure there are no peanut allergies with any of the guests.

Halloween Boo Mix Recipe

Are you familiar with the "You've been booed" game?

You might find a package of treats left anonymously at your door. After you've been booed, you are supposed to do the same by leaving a Halloween boo treat package at other neighbors and friend's houses.

This Halloween muddy buddy recipe is the perfect treat to leave if you are wanting to find a Halloween boo mix. Here's some free printable "You've been booe'd" baggie toppers.

You can print the baggie toppers out, cut them in half and add them to the tops of your bag of boo mix.

Storing

You can store this in an air tight container for about a week. You don't need to store it in the refrigerator, but you can if you prefer.

Add-ins and Alternatives

It's easy to change this recipe up if you like different items in here. Such as adding some mini marshmallows, or you could even change out the chex mix for Golden Grahams for a bit more of a sugary flavor. Here are a few favorite things to add in or swap some of the candy elements out for:

  • pretzel sticks
  • pretzels
  • mini marshmallows
  • your favorite bite-sized candy such as the little crunch bars you can find around Halloween
  • swap the peanut butter out for nutella or a different type of seed butter such as sunflower seed butter

Ingredients for Halloween Puppy Chow

  • Chex cereal
  • chocolate chips
  • peanut butter
  • butter
  • powdered sugar
  • Candy corn
  • Halloween sprinkles
  • Reese’s pieces

How to Make Puppy Chow

Step 1: In a medium bowl, melt chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter by microwaving 30 seconds at a time and stirring in between.

Step 2: Once mixture is melted, pour onto Chex cereal and mix until cereal is coated.

Step 3: Place coated cereal and powdered sugar to a gallon-size ziplock and shake until cereal is well coated.

Step 4: Add candy corn, Halloween sprinkles, and Reese's pieces to the ziplock and shake to mix everything together.

Step 5: Separate cereal mixture into snack ziplocks, and staple You’ve Been Booed tags to the top of the baggie and deliver to friends!
