Football Strawberries
Football strawberries are a fun and easy treat for any game day.
They’re made by dipping fresh strawberries in milk chocolate and adding white chocolate laces to look like little footballs.
These treats are simple to make and perfect for sharing with friends and family during the Super Bowl.
Ingredients
Fresh strawberries: Choose firm, ripe strawberries with green leaves still attached. Make sure they are dry before dipping to help the chocolate stick better.
Milk chocolate chips: Use high-quality milk chocolate for the best flavor. You can also substitute with chocolate bars if you prefer.
White chocolate or almond bark: White chocolate adds a nice contrast to the milk chocolate, but almond bark is a good option if you're looking for a smoother finish.
Skewers or toothpicks: These help with dipping the strawberries and can also be used to help hold the strawberries with eating.as a fun decoration.
Parchment paper: Use this to place the dipped strawberries on so they don't stick and to allow the chocolate to harden without making a mess.
How to Make
Trim the ends off each strawberry and pat them dry with a paper towel.
Insert a skewer or toothpick into the top of each strawberry.
If the skewer doesn’t stay in, dip it in melted chocolate first, then insert it into the strawberry.
Let the chocolate harden on the skewer a little before coating the strawberries.
Melt the milk chocolate chips in a microwave-safe dish in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth and fully melted.
Dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate, making sure it’s completely coated, then place it on a piece of parchment paper to cool and harden.
Once the milk chocolate has set, melt the white chocolate (or almond bark) in the microwave, again in 30-second intervals, stirring until it’s smooth.
Transfer the white chocolate to a piping bag and cut a small tip off the end.
Pipe football laces onto each strawberry with the white chocolate and allow them to cool completely before serving.
Tips & Tricks
Chill your strawberries: If you refrigerate the strawberries for 30 minutes before dipping, the chocolate will set faster.
Get creative with designs: You can pipe designs other than laces, like team logos or stripes, using colored icing or chocolate.
Use a silicone mat: If you don’t have parchment paper, a silicone baking mat works great for preventing sticking and easy cleanup.
Make a batch in advance: These can be made a day ahead of time and stored in the fridge, saving you time on game day.
Leftovers/Storage
Store any leftover strawberries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
F.A.Q.
Can I dip frozen strawberries?
It’s best to use fresh strawberries because frozen strawberries release too much moisture and cause the chocolate to not stick properly.
What if I don’t have a piping bag for the white chocolate?
You can use a plastic sandwich bag with the tip cut off as a makeshift piping bag.
What’s the best way to store these if I don’t have a container with a lid?
Cover them loosely with plastic wrap on a tray or plate, making sure they aren’t touching each other.
