Birthday Cake Waffles are the perfect birthday breakfast treat to make for your kids!

These waffles are made with a box of funfetti cake mix, and topped with whipped cream. I like to add sprinkles on top, because we all know sprinkles make everything better.

How many waffles can one batch make?

It depends on the waffle maker that you use. I use a waring pro Belgian waffle maker and this recipe made 6 large Belgian waffles in it.

Do waffle makers have a temperature control?

Some do and some don't. Mine has a number dial. I normally start it on the middle for a new recipe and after the first waffle is made adjust the control either up or down depending on how the waffle came out.

What can I use for the nonstick spray?

If I don't have nonstick spray, I'll melt some butter in a small dish and use a baster brush to brush on melted butter. You could also brush on olive oil.

What to do with leftovers?

Waffles cut into triangles on plate with whipped cream and sprinkles.

After the waffles have cooled, you can cover a plate of leftover waffles with saran wrap or put the waffles in a ziplock baggie and place in the fridge for about 3 days.

If you want to store them longer than this, you can store in the freezer for 3 months. You can stick a square of freezer paper or wax paper between each waffle so they don't stick together and place them in a large freezer bag.

How to reheat?

Pre-heat the oven to 300Β°F and place waffles on a cookie sheet. Heat waffles in the oven for about 10 minutes or until heated through.

You can also pop them into the toaster or toaster oven. Turn the toaster brown level down and toast the waffles for a few minutes until heated through.

Ingredients

1 15.25 oz Funfetti (confetti/sprinkle) cake mix
3 eggs
1 cup water
β…“ cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla
Optional toppings: Ice cream, Whipped cream, Syrup or sprinkles

How to Make

Step 1: Turn on and preheat your waffle maker while you make the waffle mix.

Step 2: In a medium bowl, add cake mix, eggs, water, oil, and vanilla. Mix well.

Step 3: If your waffle maker needs greased (some instruction manuals say not to grease it), now is the time to grease your waffle maker. Then add ΒΌ cup or the amount your waffle maker uses to the middle of the waffle maker and close the lid and bake for 3-5 minutes or until the light turns green.

Step 4: Remove waffles. Continue making waffles.

Step 5: Serve hot with whipped cream and sprinkles.

I hope you enjoy these birthday cake mix waffles. They are a great surprise breakfast for littles ones.
