Apple Pie Crescent Roll Dumplings
If you love apple pie, you'll love these apple pie crescent roll dumplings!
They are very similar to apple pie hand pies or mini apple turnovers. They have that delicious apple, cinnamon and sugar filling.
They are super simple to make by using crescent rolls. This is a perfect dessert to make with kids or have your kids make and you supervise.
It's delicious as an after dinner dessert, after school snack or anytime you are craving something apple and sweet.
Ingredients
Crescent roll dough: This is a great shortcut to save time. You can find them in the refrigerator section at your grocery store, in the same area as the refrigerated canned biscuits.
Apple pie filling: You can use store bought or make your own.
Sugar: We use both white and brown sugar in this recipe.
Ground cinnamon: This gives it the classic apple pie taste!
Butter: Use unsalted.
How to Make
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a small bowl, mix together the white sugar, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon, then set this mixture aside.
Pour half of the melted butter into the bottom of a baking dish, reserving the remaining butter for later.
Unroll the crescent roll dough and place 2-3 apple slices on the wide end of each triangle.
Roll the dough around the apple slices, then place each dumpling in the buttered baking dish.
Brush the tops of the rolls with the remaining melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over them.
Bake the dumplings in the oven for 18 to 22 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
Once done, allow them to cool slightly before serving and enjoy your warm, delicious treat!
Leftovers/Storage
To store leftovers, place them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days
To reheat, simply microwave them for 30-60 seconds or bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes until warmed through.
F.A.Q.
What if my crescent rolls don’t stay rolled up?
Make sure to seal the edges of the dough tightly when rolling. You can pinch the seams to help them stay together during baking.
Why are my dumplings soggy?
This can happen if there’s too much filling or if they sit too long before baking. Make sure to drain excess liquid from the filling and bake right after assembling.
What if the tops are browning too quickly?
If the tops start to brown before the rolls are fully cooked, cover them loosely with aluminum foil to prevent burning while allowing the insides to finish baking.
