Ingredients

Ingredients: buns, cheese, tomato, onions, Thousand island dressing, garlic powder, ground beef, pepper, salt, and lettuce.

Ground beef: Look for 90/10 or fattier beef for a juicy burger.

Seasonings: Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are perfect for seasoning this cheeseburger.

Hamburger buns: Choose your favorite type of bun, whether it’s classic white, whole wheat, or even a brioche.

Cheese: American cheese melts beautifully, but feel free to use any cheese you love, like cheddar or pepper jack.

Tomato: A ripe, juicy tomato slices perfectly adds freshness.

Onion: Choose your favorite onion.

Iceberg lettuce: You can swap it for spinach or arugula if you prefer.

Thousand island dressing: This classic burger topping is tangy and creamy. You can also try homemade versions or other sauces like ketchup or mustard.

How to Make

Preheat the air fryer to 350°F.

While it’s warming up, divide the ground beef into three equal portions and mold each one into a patty.

Make sure the center of each patty is thinner than the edges to help it cook evenly and maintain its shape.

Season both sides of the patties with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Place the patties in the air fryer basket, and for easy cleanup, you might want to line it with aluminum foil to catch the juices.

Cook the patties for about 10 minutes for a medium-well burger, adjusting the time by a couple of minutes if you prefer a different level of doneness.

Once the burgers are done, carefully remove them from the air fryer and place a slice of cheese on each patty.

Let them rest for a moment so the cheese can melt slightly.

While the patties are resting, slice your tomato and chop the onion, or cut the onion into rings if you prefer that style. You can also toast your buns in the air fryer for a minute if you want.

To assemble your burgers, open a bun and place a cheesy patty on the bottom half.

Add lettuce, tomato, and onion on top, then spread your favorite amount of Thousand Island dressing on the top bun.

Tips & Tricks

Here are some tips for making air fryer cheeseburgers:

Use lean ground beef: Choose 80/20 or 85/15 for a juicy burger, but don't go too lean to avoid dryness.

Experiment with seasonings: Try adding spices like smoked paprika, onion powder, or even hot sauce to the beef for extra flavor.

Use a burger press: For perfectly shaped and evenly thick patties, a burger press can save time and help you get consistent cooking.

Toast the buns: You can lightly toasting the buns in the air fryer for a minute.

Try different cheeses: Mix it up by using different types of cheese like Swiss, pepper jack, or gouda.

Use sauces creatively: Swap out Thousand Island dressing for BBQ sauce, ranch, or aioli to change the flavor profile of your burger.
